Game boards While the components are and should always be secondary to gameplay, having a large attractive game board, nicely crafted playing pieces and colourful illustrated playing cards does add atmosphere to the game. The diagram below compares the sizes of various game boards and while a large board doesn't mean a better game, an expansive backdrop to the theme does increase the roleplay value to a game in a way that is difficult to achieved in a card game or small board game.
