The greedy knights leave their proud castles and go out into the surrounding countryside to expand their base of power and wealth. The other knights will not let these expansions go unanswered, and often seek to contest the new lands. So knights must not only conquer the new lands, but also protect them afterwards, so they will remain loyal.
